I’m getting some mixed reviews for the Cockney and Yoda Talk apps. Many of those which are low scores are from people who expected the translation to be spoken out loud back to them. Maybe the name of the app gave them that impression? I would love to achieve this and I know I can but only using a standard male or female voice. That would be rubbish though. Probably worse than nothing at all. To do this with a voice that actually sounds like a cockney or Yoda would be hellishly difficult to do. I can’t think of anywhere that I have seen this kind of feature before i.e a user provides some random text and the voice of a celebrity or character speaks it back to you.
For both the Cockney Talk and Yoda Talk apps I’m looking into allowing users to create a user profile and then allowing them to instant message each other with their message being translated automatically into Cockney or Yoda Talk.
Welcome to the Team Westwood blog site. This will be a place to post information about my Windows Phone app development. I currently have 4 apps in the marketplace (well 2 are really the same but one has adverts and the other is a paid app).
The apps are TimeShare & TimeShare Free which are stopwatch apps. Then there’s Cockney Talk and Yoda Talk which translate English text into Cockney and Yodaish. I developed them in my spare time just for fun and to learn about the Windows Phone platform. Below are the large tile images of the apps which link to their pages on the marketplace.
